I'm one of those folks that likes using something until it's "used-up". Well, based on the small hole at the tip of the pinky finger.....I guess the summer gloves I purchased in 1986 or 1987 have made it to the "end of the line"

Burn them in a steel pan, place the ashes in a clay pot and bury them in your favourite spot, a befitting end 😁

As they are now *just* broken in, the hole is now a "feature."

People pay a good price for new jeans with holes in them.
List your gloves on eBay as vintage and let the bidding begin

I had to take a short business trip and did not know what the weather was going to be like. I did not have to wear a formal suit for at least part of the time; and I pulled my old "Mars" leather jacket out of the wardrobe. People in Melbourne would know Mars Leather. I still have 2 of their jackets, the Burgundy one and a much newer (from 1991) black Kangaroo skin one.
Anyway, the old jacket, now 43 years old, is still functional.
Granted, when it is zipped up there is no hope of carrying even a newspaper inside it (much less a loaf of bread as I did "back in the day") but it is still good as gold.
It was / is so tough that once on my way to work in the morning traffic light GP, I spun up the rear wheel of my XS 750 going around a right hand bend. The Yamaha dumped me and I slid down the road feet first on my stomach. It got so hot, my "polyester blend" business shirt had burn marks on it through the jacket. The jacket didn't even scuff. It had no marks at all.
It was a unique view given to me of looking up at the front bumper and licence plate of the Holden EJ sedan that was looming above me. I am sure glad he stopped...

This is my Turkish mate Haki's hat. He uses it every day on his 30km, 80kph commute. Yes that is a crack from ear to ear and a piece of shell missing, but he argues that it's better than nothing - he's probably right!!

I guess it is time to show my old riding suit, since it has a story to tell. I bought it off of the back of a rented box truck, parked in the lot across from Alice's Restaurant for $300 about a year after the Watts Riots in LA. I was told that the Kushitani warehouse had been torched during the riots and that their insurance company had written off their entire stock in the building and paid the company for their loss. The fellows who were selling the Kushitani leather suits supposedly purchased the items from the insurance company at a substantial discount. After having some alterations performed so that the suit fit me better, I have been wearing it off and on ever since. Unfortunately, the suit doesn't have any armor, but then I don't think any leather riding suits or jackets back then did.
