My phone betrays where I have been in 2023

Most northerly point was Chester, UK. Southern, Sierra de Gredos, Spain. Eastern, Newhaven UK. Western, Ponferrada, Spain

Interesting 🤔 You can't keep secrets now. 😉
Interestingly, when my wife and myself went to the IOM last year, Vodafone thought we were in Guernsey and tried to bill us accordingly 🤔 I had great fun trying to get through to them that I had never visited Guernsey.

my map above is only 2023

looking at previous years I seem to have a ping in the middle of the Atlantic. I can only assume that the wifi used on a ferry was using a satellite with the ground link in the Azores. I always have the phone in airplane mode on board as I am not connecting to their cell phone link.

I have not paid much attention to my Google Timeline in the past.
I noticed our 2015 Timeline was missing Ontario Canada and four states in the Northeast US.
I didn't have cell service in Canada in 2015 so missing Ontario made sense but not sure why some of the states were missing.
In 2016 I can see the places we stayed in Ontario Canada.

No. You can have a google account in iOS and turn on the tracking, with the data shown in Google Maps, which is available in the App store.
