Consumer Reports has published a survey that they obtained by collecting comments from their members who owned electric cars. After studying the results, they concluded that the current batch of electric cars are not as reliable as gas-powered vehicles. See the attached article.

They need to use better semiconductor parts

Somewhere in the middle of that 6 column story, is the statement .......Traditional hybrids are more reliable than conventional engined vehicles. Considering fuel mileage, 42 to 54 mpg for sedans and minimal chance of annual "excess efficiency" fees or taxes, traditional hybrids are a pretty safe bet.

Notice that they specifically call out body and interior panel fit as a problem. That implies that a bulk of the EVs surveyed are Teslas, and Tesla runs like a software company whose products are in perpetual beta.

EVs may or may not be unreliable, but it helps to understand the underlying data.
