Just completed a great long weekend trip to the TT with my son on these which I have owned for a little while. I originally owned one in the '90s and bought both as low mileage well looked after bikes. They covered 800 miles smoothly , did 120mph over the mountain, averaged 55mpg, did 200 miles per tank, carried all our luggage in the panniers easily and had room under the seat to store some tools. Touch heavy on the steering but really really enjoyable to ride. Brings back memories of my own red �91 K100RS. That bike was bulletproof. Yes, it was a bit of a dog in the traffic .You�re right, they don�t make them like that anymore.

Here is a picture of my 1991 K100RS. In 2002 I traded it in on my current Yamaha FZ1 after first repairing its broken final drive that blew up due to a failed front U-joint. Otherwise it was a very reliable, but heavy and very slow-steering, lump.

Yes, we used that space to buy up some of the last coffee sold by Connor Cummins, a racer, as the panniers were full !

My 1999 Oilhead RS had a rear storage area similar to the original K-bikes. But, that nice storage tray above ECU wasn't there or the flip-out handle. IMHO, the original k-bikes were very well-designed.

I had 3 KRS's - 2 1000's (one of which was the same yucca green) and 1 1100. Bullet-proof, indeed!
