Tuning and modding » Custom paint options

Not being one to keep any of my bikes with standard paintwork, I find myself wanting
something to make my bike unique. Its the usual white and Lupin Blue, and other than a few
chips in the front, its in good condition. Top box and panniers are also blue.
I've scoured the web and found very few examples of aftermarket paint jobs.
Does anyone have any pics or even suggestions on what route to go.
I'm leaning towards red/white/blue like the XR's, but all suggestions are welcome.
I'll tackle it in the new year and post here what I decide on.

I just sprayed the panniers and topbox to match the rest of the bike, including the logos.

Coincidentally, I've just resprayed a newly acquired topbox, red, for my XR too.

How about recognizing the 50th year anniversary of the release of the R90S in 1973?

The first R90S models had a two-tone paintwork scheme of "Smoke Black/Silver" with gold pinstripes. Later R90S models were available in two-tone "Daytona Orange" with red pinstriping.

That looks far better than the 2023 sport paint scheme. Whomever is in charge of colors for BMW Motorad needs to be fired.

Firing them is too painless - make them sit on a BMW seat all weekend...

In retrospect, I dont want anything factory, so I may
just look at taking some design queues from it, and do my own thing.
Still have time to think it through, dont want to rush it.

Just a suggestion - but maybe get in touch with 8Ball Custom Paint in Ripley. They do (or at least did) all the limited edition factory paint jobs for Triumph and for BMW (including all the 2016 Iconic models - I have an Iconic R1200RS).

They had an amazing selection (gallery) of their custom paint designs - including the 'feathered' BMW paint schemes from the 80's. Might give some inspiration...
