...just wait a bit. This morning I got the bike out for my morning ride to the office. Yes, I know, it was cold. The 7V battery Mobile Warming gear actually does a good job keeping me warm for my 20 mile commute. I started down the road and the next thing I know it's snowing! Fortunately, it only lasted for a couple miles, it wasn't coming down very hard and the roads are still warm. Still, that was a first for me. I wouldn't purposely go out for a ride in the snow.

It's that time of year. We got three inches of snow a couple days ago. 32 F now and the high the next two days will be in the low 20s.

Back in 2001 it was snowing enough two different days that our bikes were making a track in the snow. That was northern Pennsylvania and southern New York, early October.

Kudos to you for riding in this weather. I agree it's not 'that' bad.

+1 on the 7.4v heated gear. I have a batt pack and shirt I use around the house... often to enjoy a cigar :)

I bought all the Mobile warming gear when I had my 94 VFR. Those things had, let's just say, weak electrical systems, to be kind. I only had to replace the rectifier once in 60K miles but you didn't tax them beyond the bike's standard electrical load. The gloves are probably the oldest and I'm sure they're 14 years old or so. What's surprising is the original batteries still hold a charge. I am seriously considering replacing them with something wired to the bike. Charging them isn't bad. I just don't like being out, thoroughly enjoying myself, and having to turn back, knowing I'm half way trough the battery.

One last thing, if anyone sees a deal on a heated jacket liner, gloves, controller and harness, please let me know. I had a lead on a package like that for $400 US and 10% off for first time buyers from The Warming Store but they're currently out of my size.

Yeah, the VFR's Regulator/Rectifiers were a nightmare for longer than they should have been. Luckily, there's plenty of power on the RS to keep you warm.

I now have a warm'n'safe jacket and gloves with the wireless controller that's bike powered. Works great and I like the dual zones for jacket/gloves. I have the connector zip tied along the left frame rail by my knee/thigh and then I can plug in thru pass-thru port of my suit. 20% discount is a good one. I've traded a couple emails with the warming store. They tell me they should have my size in a Gerbing package in 30 to 60 days. It's the jacket liner, gloves, controller and harness for $400. They also offer 10% off for first time buyers. I think I'm going to wait on that. I doubt I'll be riding too much more this season anyway.

That would not work for me because my phone is always in my jacket or pants pocket.
I like being able to change the heat setting while riding.

As far as heating, I've been happy with the VentureHeat products. I think they're the same as the Cycle Gear house brand and the Firstgear products.
