Hi Folks,
Thought I would say hello to all on the forum.
I'm seriously thinking of a used R1200RS and thought this is the place to go for info and tips.
My BMW background is limited to airheads, I bought a new R100S in 1981, and then a R100RT, I was told I was too light to make it handle!, HA!. Anyway, apart from engine configuration, I don't think there is much comparison!.
I now have mostly older Italian bikes, and my all year round bike, which the BMW would replace, is a Moto Guzzi Norge, which I should add, I love.
So a bit of a quandry, as to what to do. I'll go ride an RS next week and see what I think, I'm sure I'll find a huge difference to my Norge.

Welcome. I fancied a Norge a while ago but I couldn't find a demo to ride at a reasonable distance. I still haven't scratched that Guzzi itch. The V85TT came close but it is a heavy old bus for the engine output.

I think you will like the RS. 10kg lighter, 25% more bhp and a lot more torque. The only thing you might find different is the more sporty riding position but this forum excels in providing advice on all conceivable ergonomic adjustments to ameliorate a wide range of age related decrepitude.

Yes, there is a fairly high minimum age limit for riding an RT. The minimum weight limit seems inherent in the minimum age limit.....................
