I'll update in a week or two, but damn these feel better than the stock hoops. I'm pretty stoked to try them out in the Ozark twisties now.

Did you get the GT versions ? I'm coming up to having my tyres replaced and wonder is it worth it to get the GT versions. Thanks

To my knowledge (having run several sets of RS3’s and have 1500 mi on RS4), Dunlop does not have a GT version like Pirelli does for the Angels. All road smarts are designed for heavier weight sport touring. I have a friend w K1600GT running RS4’s too and so far we both love ‘em.

I'm sure you are correct. The old (stock) tires were...tired. The front/rear profiles didn't match and it felt sketchy in corners. These are nice and round and new and pimply. I'm taking it easy on them to scrub off the mold release, but so far...they feel great. I'd say it makes it a new bike, but for me it is already a new bike. Maybe it's a newer, better bike? I suspect with decent rubber it is going to be at least as good as my Ducati Multistrada.

Your understanding is as I understand for those tires sold in the Americas. I do believe there is now a GT version for the European market. In the US if you check the sidewall you should find an “X” indicating it is designed for the heavier weight sport touring.

Running RS4's on the RS. 5K miles and only used 3/32 of tread. Started at 8/32 new, I've got another 3/32 before new shoes and should see 8-9K out of them. No other premium tire I've run on any of the Beemers has come close to that mileage. My brother on his 07GT is running them as well with similar results.

We both like how they perform in the rain, as well as dry surfaces.

Thank you for the mileage! I have 1500 on mine and am hoping to make my 3300 mi trip in April. Sounds like I got a good shot. Yay!

I have had a set fitted last week ... the GT versions and have found them a lot better than the Michelines that were fitted. They feel much more secure on cornering and the bike feels much more nimble and precise. However, Fuel economy has taken a noticeable hit as has acceleration which feels not quite as immediate as before.

I can’t comment on the Michelin’s, but would take the RS4’s over the Z7 or 01’s every day.

My RS had the Michelin Road 5 and my R1200ST just had the Road 6 fitted at the weekend, replacing old road 3!
Part of the MOT (uk yearly safety test) advised new tyres but also 'rather soft damping - rtfm - damping was 2 turns out - really soft, should be only one turn out.
I can now say new tyres and damping/spring pre-load back to std/normal and the bike now turns as well as the RS.
Amazing how over 10,000 miles you adjust to worn tyres, soft damping/suspension, heavy steering etc.
Just got a 'newly booted' 2005 ST running as well as the RS!
The ST does not need the GT version, especially as I ride solo and not fitted the panniers/top box in 4 years - RS set is used for holiday travels.
Both rear tyres are 180/55 ZR15 with (WC 73W) as the given load/weight.
No idea if the RS had standard or GT but as the main dealer fitted them I assume they were 'as advised' but are they differently marked on GT versions?

They were Michelin Pilot Road 4, non GT which was what was on the bike when new. Fuel economy has improved now!
