That�s a rhetorical question BTW!

It�s amazing that such a small component is so important.

Yet we rarely give it any attention.

Spurred on by a recent MOT failure on my SIL�s 12 year old bike due to perished (traditional) rubber tyre valves, I decided I�d treat my almost 6 year old steed to new tyre valves. Which are in the post now. Part number shown below.

An example of purely time-based maintenance.

They were working OK yesterday and will probably work OK tomorrow, but for a few quid I�ll sleep easier the next time I�m on the autobahn - or anywhere else for that matter.

Tomorrow I�ll take my wheels and new tyres to My Man for fitting. Earlier than planned following last weekend�s puncture.
May keep the front tyre as an emergency spare. You never know where your next puncture is coming from.

Out of interest, I used my little torque wrench on the OEM valve that had not yet been removed and I can say that it must have been fitted with something around 10Nm or less as I was on the bottom of the scale and it moved.

In other words, the valves seem to have been fitted as you�d expect with an O Ring seal on a flat metal to metal surface - finger tight plus a little squeeze. That�s a technical term

You�ll not be surprised that the Haynes manual does not cover tyre valve replacement.

I found 12nm or about 9.5 ftlbs. When I replaced the fitting on my front wheel, I used blue Loctite and a moderate grunt.
I figure you weren't looking for the answer but I just had to!

I'm not sure what you are asking. The valve stem itself can be unscrewed from the wheel without removing the valve core. The tire pressure monitor is mounted to the inside and does not need to be disturbed. Mine came apart without having to use heat on it. Not much shoulder on the hex, so be careful with the socket to be sure it doesn't slip.

If the tyre is holding air, rather than soft with a puncture, indeed you may wish to remove the stem or otherwise release the pressure before unscrewing the valve.
