It alerted me that my rear tyre pressure was low🤔 subsequently I could monitor the pressure and stop at a garage if needed.
Wouldn't want to be backing it into a corner with 10psi in tyre😄

As a bit of backstory, I spent a few decades in flow handling equipment R&D. So, accuracies of 1 or 2% of the full range, in my experience, correlates to prices well beyond available tire gauges. In addition, when I search for Master Tire Gauges...........I don't see a statement that a calibration certificate will be supplied or a statement of accuracy. What I do see is statements like ........... if the daily use gauge is within +/- 3 psi of the Master Test gauge reading at 100psi, the daily use gauge is good... I felt unfulfilled.

So, being COVID bored, I went shopping for an oil-filled gauge that I could use as a test gauge. Amazon had a 2.5" SS dial gauge with a claimed accuracy of 1.5% of the full-scale (60-psi) for $20, which is probably 1/10 or 1/20 the cost of a 1.5% gauge you would in an industrial situation. When the box arrived, there was no calibration certificate. I was not surprised. I mounted the gauge to a brass tee. One end of the tee mounts to my 5-gal air tank and the other has a Schrader valve. I charge the air tank to 40-psi and test my various decades-old tire gauges on the Schrader valve. Even the Sears gauges that I carried for years on the bike or in the car trunk were within 1.5-psi of the test gauge. My last remaining pencil gauge was a joke.

So, after all this, what did I learn? Not a lot.

Having been through God knows how many gauges over the years with different degrees of success, I splashed out on one of these a couple of years ago.

It really is a thing of beauty - it's robust, clear, easy to use; the nozzle-wotsit rotates 90 degrees and is easy to apply to the valve without accidentally losing pressure, and the dial retains its display after the reading until you manually release it. Obviously in the absence of a calibration standard to verify it against I can't make any claims about its accuracy, but I reckon this is about as good as you're likely to get.

How does one know if their air tank is accurate as a measure of other gauges accuracy?

The test gauge is mounted to the tank. I'm comparing the reading of the test gauge with the tire gauge. Both are reading from the same plenum/reservoir.

Bathroom scales are notorious for over-reading.
I've given up on electronic gauges that fail after less than a year and got one a lot like Freddyfruitbat's

more a demonstration of consistency or lack thereof, rather than accuracy

as I keep saying, and the chap in that video, a gauge designed for domestic use gives you a reference point not a scientifically accurate reading. Much the same as the scales used in a kitchen or a bathroom.

“Nice tools” are things to enjoy. I have lots.

I also have many tyre (tire) pressure gauges.

I’ll never claim any of them are accurate.

It honestly doesn’t matter which one I choose to check my tyres before a ride.

I set them. I ride the bike. And I’ve always come home in one piece after a satisfactory ride.

As long as you’re close to the recommended pressures, you will survive the day.

Worrying over minor deviations during a ride is pointless.

I'm also compulsive about tire pressures- I have three tire gauges and they tend to agree with each other, which is reassuring- and measure pressure every time I take the bike out. That having been said, the bike handles about the same in the 35-39/40-43 range and I change tires early enough that eking out a few extra miles doesn't matter. So what I *think* I'm saying is that I think it matters but it may not matter as much as I think it does. :)
