I am sorry to see that Fugly is having to sell his bike. A victim of the Covid crisis, he has lost his job and his fledgling bike business is unable to support him just yet. |

The exchange rate has already had an inflationary impact on new prices but I think dealer margins are being squeezed, as ever. |

What I have read in internet articles are the new motorcycle sales are up and used bike sales are down. Why this should be I have no idea, but no doubt it depends upon the market and the vehicle. I don't think H-D is doing very well this year. In my area my observation is that new KTM bikes seem to be selling well.

There was a dealer in Scotland offering 6.9% and free panniers - was genuinely tempted to go up there and buy, but when Vines matched it it was too easy. Then I discovered I could borrow at 3.9% from my bank - easy decision. Still got the free panniers though :) But then Covid hit and I'm no longer commuting up to London, so rather than saving £200 per month over the train cost I've cost myself a few hundred a month for what is currently a weekend toy. As @PlacidoD says, there are worse things... but I'm very fortunate that my job hasn't been hit by COVID or impending Brexit... yet. |

Zitat von wessie im Beitrag #3 Wessie, Your words above have me feeling smug. I PX'd my 12 plate Stelvio, bought the 11 month old R1250RS and kept my 10 plate Hyundai I30. I use bikes as my primary means of transport so having four wheeled transport sat on the drive unused depreciating by the day made no sense to me. And a change of bike made more sense with a very poor Moto Guzzi dealership network and expensive major work needed on the Stelvio to put it back in first class order. But for that I would still be riding it. Like you my annual mileage has reduced massively since March and arguably two older bikes and an old car is now more than I need but life is depressing enough working full-time and living on your own in Tier 3 so one has to have some pleasure! P.S. I barely do 3k a year by car but I am slowly getting to like my creature comforts. The thought of a mid-winter commute across the Pennines on the F800GT no longer seems so attractive! Chris

With barbed wire probably on order for the Welsh border it is likley easier getting to Switzerland but no way will I fly at the moment! I can still get about. Travel outside Tier 3 is discouraged but not unlawful. I did a socially distanced organised bike run on Saturday from Stourbridge zigzagging down to Bourton-on-the-Water where I had a soggy outdoor sandwich sitting 2 metres plus apart from others at the stone picnic tables outside of a closed fish & chip/pizza shop. That is only my 2nd but also my last organised bike event of the year!! No risk to anybody and very much needed to keep me sane. Anyway even if they were to criminalise travel outside Tier 3 areas so much of the North is now Tier 3 that need not cramp my style. I can roam from Carnforth or Liverpool to Nottingham and West Yorkshire is on the brink of joining us! It is going to be a grim winter but my brace of BMWs will be put to good use! What would seriously upset me would be a distance travel restriction such as is in force in Wales. P.S. Man U not Bolton Wanderers! Chris
