Personally, I will keep my 2 x 2016 bikes. I regret replacing my car 2 years ago with a new one. It is hardly used now I work from home so a 7 year old car would have been ideal right now if I had not traded up and I would not have a loan to pay off!

Your words above have me feeling smug. I PX'd my 12 plate Stelvio, bought the 11 month old R1250RS and kept my 10 plate Hyundai I30. I use bikes as my primary means of transport so having four wheeled transport sat on the drive unused depreciating by the day made no sense to me. And a change of bike made more sense with a very poor Moto Guzzi dealership network and expensive major work needed on the Stelvio to put it back in first class order. But for that I would still be riding it.

Like you my annual mileage has reduced massively since March and arguably two older bikes and an old car is now more than I need but life is depressing enough working full-time and living on your own in Tier 3 so one has to have some pleasure!

P.S. I barely do 3k a year by car but I am slowly getting to like my creature comforts. The thought of a mid-winter commute across the Pennines on the F800GT no longer seems so attractive!

On your own in Tier 3 must be a bind. I live by myself with family in Wales and a 30 year old son near Portsmouth. At least I am still in Tier 1 and can roam on my bike in the Cotswolds, if not Wales.

I guess your situation could only be worse if you, like my son and his mother, support Bolton Wanderers...

I see from the Motorrad website that BMW are offering various carrots across some of its models. None for the RS, mostly low APR and deposit assistance.
Like all retailers these days they are more interested in finance packages than cash buyers.

Bought my bike last month in the UK. Bought it new, tax free. There were no incentives as I always by my bikes with cash as I am allergic to credit. The best thing is that I don't care what it is worth, I am not selling it. I have never bought a bike to sell, I tend to buy them to ride them.

how did you get it tax free? Are you exporting it out of the EU? I thought UK VAT would apply up until 31-12-2020 for France?

I did that with a car I bought in France. It comes with temporary export plates, you register it in your home country and pay a load of tax then.
Or at least that was the arrangement, before we "took back control"

I´m originally from Swansea....but never really had a bike when I lived there (an Aprilia custom doesn´t count).

How is the riding generally? Lot´s of cameras and police controls or can you do what you want?

In normal times the roads can get busy at weekends with those from the M4 corridor and England descending onto them. These riders mostly stick to the main trunk roads heading for the usual meeting places like Abergavenny, Llandovery, Aberystwyth, Crossgates & the Ponderosa Cafe up north. These roads will get the camera vans and police as people ride like twats a lot of the time, in packs. Of course, these main roads get clogged up with caravans, camper vans and Sunday pensioners as well.

My home town is Monmouth which is an hour away from where I live now. I ride mostly B roads or single track mountain roads. These are mostly quiet and have few cameras or police. I tend to stay in Mid Wales, so north of the A465 Heads of the Valley roads and south of Lake Vyrnwy. These are the best and least crowded roads.

What 52% of the people voted for. The idiot PM Cameron did not think to include a minimum majority threshold when seeking to appease Farage and his flock. If Scotland (or Wales) secedes from the UK and re-joins Europe I am going to live there!!

Sorry guys but 52% against 48% is a majority. I wish that it had been the other way around but it is not. I have served queen and country all of my life, and still pay UK tax on my RAF pension, but because I live in France I was not allowed to even vote in that referendum, how unfair is that?
