No, I am happy using longer lasting, sport touring tyres on my RS. Currently Avon Storm 3D. These are very good in cold, damp conditions when commuting and also provide adequate grip to have fun on Sundays or trips overseas. |

I'm a pretty sedate rider. At most I would say I get up to a brisk pace, so there may be others who can give more information about the limits of the tire, but I put Power 5s on my FJR. Huge difference from the old worn tires was immediately noticeable, but I always notice big changes with new tires, but this was a bit more than others in the positive direction. I never got anywhere close to the limits of the tires, and always felt very well planted. Comfortable, quiet, competent tires. The FJR was a bit less sporty than the RS, and slightly heavier. I sold the bike before I wore the tires down too much, so I can't comment much about mileage. I was told to expect very good life, similar or better than the 4s. |

The power 5 is apparently a new tyre. It is not yet released on the R1200R(S) in every country. It is described as "Ultra High Performance Summer tyre". |

I've just installed a set of Michelin Road 5's and their soft part of the dual compound rear tire is stellar! Just replaced my worn out Dunlop Roadsmart 3's, which i also liked - very nuetral handling all the way to the end. Although never an issue, the Dunlop compound seems a little harder on the edge of the tire than the Dunlop. Before that I had the Metzeler Roadtec 01 and was never really happy with them. Especially the squirmy nature of the front tire. The Power 5 looks great for tearing up the twisties, but I'm hoping the Road 5 will last at least as long as the Dunlop. |

You should be aware that the Roadtec 01Se is a new tyre for 2020. I do not know who paid for the tests but the summary comment for the Road 5-'People love the Road 5 and it is easy to see why but they did not suit the RS that well-our fitter said they had the softest construction. Would work better on a lighter bike.' Two riders conducted the test, one 95kg 6' 2'' the other 66kg and 5'7''. Their marks out of 50 are given in the attached table.
