It's possible that everyone has seen this except me , but if you watch youtube check out "Itchy Boots Travel " Series 2 , Patagonia to Alaska . Absolutely the best thing on youtube . At the moment the poor girl is stuck in Bolivia under lockdown . I thought I was adventurous , but she is amazing . ( and pretty )

I'm part way through her first series (I think), and yes, she's very watchable! Combined with the sound from that Enfield Himalayan, it's almost better than going out for a ride! 😆

In this latest episode, Itchy Boots and her motorcycle are on their way to Lima. She had to pass though 12 police and military checkpoints so far. It is interesting to see how Peru is dealing with the virus scare. One thing they are doing is to hand out $110 USD to residents of the country, resulting in the people in the small towns standing in long lines to get their free money. Here is the video.

What is the matter with some people - rhetorical - I know what's the matter they are pure inconsiderate stupid d**kheads who think they're above rules and common sense.

I am for 6 month driving bans if caught on a non-essential journey - to be served on the best biking days of the nest year

A year later and a response to andygriiff!

Right through the last six months or so, a young lad has ridden his 125 Honda, every evening and repeatedly through the weekends. His exhaust is so loud, it is audible from about four miles away as he goes round and round the village. On the one hand, I am secretly happy for him, as a youngster, that he has been able to get out of his very small house and have some fun. On the other hand, I do feel like inserting his illegal exhaust into an intimate body space on him. As ever, of course, Joe and Janet Public will have no idea that it is a small motorbike, nor that the exhaust is illegal. Neither will they be able to distinguish between an old geezer like me, riding a 1200cc, quiet bike, carefully and considerately around the place from the youngster and his offensive 125cc machine. They are both just motorbikes, n'est ce pas?

What to do? Today was the first time for many months that I have been legally allowed to go out on a recreational ride on my bike and I had a most enjoyable 40 mile ride as a result. I guarantee that had I gone out before this, I would have been instantly nicked but I very much doubt that young matey on his 125 has had the slightest whiff of any bother! So it goes.

So I took the day off and got 5 hours in the saddle today. Woohoo! I tracked back roads through to and across The Trough of Bowland and up to Ingleton on the A65 then across towards Lancaster and then back down through the Trough again to Dunsop Bridge then Clitheroe, then Sabden then home. That has blown away a few cobwebs.

DJBee - I feel for you. I have watched idiot "yoof" doing wheelies on the public highway for months now. They will be no loss to the gene pool!

P.S. Like the OP I have enjoyed watching Itchyboots during lockdown.

Congratulations on your foray Chris. I feel very fortunate to have been able to go on my modest journey of freedom today and have some much more ambitious UK trips planned. Sadly, I still cannot go so far afield that I can stay overnight but that option should arrive soon. I hope!

As for yoofs behaving insensitively on two wheels, I do have to remember that at their age, I was just as bad..... possibly worse! Happily, I survived but some of my contemporaries sadly did not.

I have yet to watch 'Itchyboots' but will make some effort to do so asap.

Itchy Boots is now in Quito, Ecuador, to continue her trip north to Alaska on her new Honda CCRF300 Rally that she has named "Alaska". What is interesting about this 20-minute video is that it shows what she had to do to get her and her motorcycle from the Netherlands to the UK, to Heathrow, on to an airplane and then to Ecuador. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpX0OGzk8yU

I was there in 1966 and things have sure changed a lot. As I recall there was no "New Panama City" and the town didn't look all that great. In particular, it was surrounded by awful smelling homes made out of sheet metal and sitting on stilts over a swamp with no sewage system. It looks like things have really improved since then. You might be interesting is seeing a few of the photos that I took while stationed for 18 months at Howard AFB, long before the Canal was turned over to the Panama government. My ride at the time was a 1966 Suzuki B-100P that I bought new in Panama City for $400.
