Is there an Australian distributor? He would be very busy for up to 2 months a year for about 20% of the country.

Is there a 12 volt chilled water exo type vest??? I mean soaking a shirt and letting it dry out is so primitive.

Maybe a C180 scooter type add on roof with doors is the answer for proper comfort.

It is a beautiful spring day here iin Melbourne and I an stuck without my bike.

I've got a Gerbings heated jacket with thermostat and want to install it on my 2016. It's currently on another bike. Can anyone tell me if they've had any issues with the charging system on the RS when hooking up heated gear? Should I be aware of anything? Thanks in advance.

I think this is a stupid question, but here goes. I have a dealer installed SAE pig-tail on the battery. I assume it has a 7.5A fuse installed.

The heated jacket and pants I'm considering will have a max current draw of 7A. I was going to swap-out a 10A fuse for the current 7.5A fuse and get a SAE to Coax adapter or a SAE to COAX splitter. But then I read that Gerbings and Venture say mount their pigtail.

Is this just marketing BS?

I had a battery-charging pigtail dealer-installed when I bought my bike. I added another outlet that plugs into this pigtail and use itt for a Tourmaster Synergy jacket. I’ve had the jacket about ten years now- still works great.

Help needed!

1. Can you wire an heated jacket and or gloves direct to the battery without affecting the canbus system?

2. If you atatch an optimate fly to the battery does the charger need to be canbus specific or will any optimate version do?

You can wire in most 12V devices directly to the battery. You can use the positive terminal or the Aux positive terminal under the right cover.

Please fuse any leads.

The commercial Can-bus compatible devices look to be a really good choice, but are a lot more expensive than the circuits I needed to support (a) a battery charging pigtail, (b) a 12 V feed for an air compressor, (c) a 12 V feed for the "up front" USB port and (d) the hot wire to the horn relay.

To stop overcrowding the Aux terminal, I made up a loom for (a) and (b) from the battery positive terminal.

It is prudent to disconnect the battery as you work. Disconnect the negative first, and tape over the terminal as the negative earth is some springy character and flops back down on the battery if not otherwise secured.

Unless you are going to attach something to the positive battery terminal itself and are going to remove the battery, you are safe to leave it connected as long as the battery is not earthed.
