I think flags are fine if self selected as an avatar. I think if they are assigned by the "system" then we may have trouble. Someone in Barcelona may not wish to have the Spanish flag assigned to them for example and Bravo has given another.

The old forum assigned the flag depending where you were located at the time, or where it thought you were based on an IP address. It used to amuse me that I showed in Norway when I was on a ferry in the English Channel as that was the satellite base station used by Brittany Ferries.

United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
I don't feel it is either united or great at the moment but I have no wish for it to fragment. I have lived close to the border of England & Wales all of my life. My father and I were born in Wales, my mother and three siblings were born in England. I lived in England as a teenager and crossed the border to go to school in Wales. Same with my first full time job. My son was born in England. I have no desire to assign any nationality at a sub-level below British and at a supra-national level as European.
There is one exception. Rugby Union but this is more tribalism than nationalism as my school was big on rugby and a former captain of Wales, Eddie Butler was a peer at school. Hence I will support Wales in the Six Nations tournament (effectively the top level European league featuring 3 British teams, Wales, Scotland & England and 3 other European teams, France, Ireland & Italy).

I liked that feature too,I took great pleasure being picked up by a member when I was holidaying somewhere exotic.
