Is the R1250 engine wider than the R1200???

I will not go to the Stockholm motorcycle fair as it's a scam (€20 to see bikes cramped on an indoor football arena, €12 for a pizza slice + coke, NO thanks...) |

I looked at the new bikes at the NEC show in the UK, and the engines are not noticeably wider, so probably only a few millimetres due to the increased stroke which is partly responsible for the increased capacity. The bore has also increased so the new cylinders may also be a few millimetres fatter, but again not noticeable. Not sure it matters except for things like fitting engine bars, and they have to be designed specifically for the 1250 anyway due to the different routing of the exhaust. |

On my monitor the front wheel measures 36mm on 1200 and 39mm on 1250. I am sure the head cover IS a bit bigger on the 1250, but these pictures make it look a lot bigger. |

The guy that posted the note at the fair about increased width, rides a 1200RS, so thats why I got hooked on that remark. |
