It's hotting up here in Australia, with a week's worth of 30+°C days coming our way.
Today was forecast as 37°C, but I don't think it quite got there. Close though.

Stopped in traffic, the engine temp hit a max of 102°C before the fan kicked in and dropped it down to low 90's. Once under way at 60kph it dropped way back to 89°C pretty quickly.

This seems pretty normal to me, but at what temp auld I start being concerned?

BMW does not encourage thinking. The ECU will tell you and maybe switch off the bike leaving you stranded in a desert, miles from anywhere. Just hope a road train driver is lonely...

Too hot for me is when the rubber soles of my boots melt off from the heat coming off of the cylinders as they did one year while riding my 2000 R1100R in 100 degree F temperatures. Your RS is keeping itself cool just as designed by the BMW engineers. So don't worry, be happy - and toasty.

And I recommend Shoe Goo for reattaching boot soles.

As long as the coolant level is ok, I think the temp can rise to over 110°C without problems. Because it is a closed system, the coolant won't boil at 100°C.

Yes, then keep your motorcycle suit and helmet closed, so it remains a closed system

in the smeary weather in germany my pity because of the higher temperatures (australia I had always thought much warmer) is just not very big.

Holger, be thankful you're not living in Austria right now as according to friends they have just under 3 metres of snow

About the only time you can say that thinking about it.

Do not be too jealous, my daughter is in Sydney behind closed doors with the air conditioning blasting away while outside gets to a sweltering 40deg C.
It's too hot to go out and dangerous to touch anything automotive!

Yes, I'm glad that I do not have to shovel snow from the roof. But I prefer it to be cool as too warm.
45 ° C - I think I would bury myself somewhere. If here in Germany the thermometer rises above 30 ° C (86 ° F) it is already too warm for me.
In about 14 days to go skiing again to Austria, hope until then everything is back to normal, snow should be enough.

I would also like to live in the mountains, skiing in winter and ride the mountain passes with the RS in the summer - would be great !

I might be getting too soft as the years go by. If it's too hot/cold/wet then I leave the bike in the garage. Unfortunately that means that my plans for a trip tomorrow go on hold.

It may interest some people to know that here in Sydney, the maximum temperatures on one day can vary significantly between the city (near the water) and the outer suburbs. Tomorrow's forecast for example is for tops of 33° and 42° respectively.

I�ve been in Brazil all week 33-36c and beautiful blue skies, it�s really got me wanting to ride the bike, but I�m home to UK tomorrow and I know it will be wet and cold. Bike can stay under its blanket!!

And here in Melbourne the temperature can vary 20°C within the hour.
Yesterday's top was 43C. Overnight low was 29C. Today at 2pm it was 44C. At 2:20pm it dropped down to 27C..
