New member from the upper left of the U.S....around the Rocky Mountain region. Been riding BMW's since 2012, when I bought an 800ST, soon followed by a '13 RR, a '14 HP4, a '15 RR, a '16 GT and the only one I own now, a '17 RR, which will probably stay with me quite a while (it's the best iteration of them all). I miss the more casual ST and GT riding style, and the carrying capacity with the luggage. I can ride 300 miles on the RR, but I'm nearly 72 and would like to have a second bike again, for those really long, more laid-back rides. |

If you are a regional rider and don't spend more than a couple days at a time on the road, I say, no reason to add an RS If you enjoy travelling, and aren't responsible for livestock or the equivalent (grandchildren don't count), then I recommend following your instincts.

Having owned an ST and a GT, with panniers, I can say I do miss the carrying capacity and the riding position. I'd like to do some multi-day 1,000+ mile rides without having to carry chain cleaner and lube along, and having to pack everything in a 20L Kreiga bag on the RR. Also...well, I like having 2 bikes with their own unique mission statements. |
