I believe there is also an advantage in the delay. Normally BMW would dump the older model prior to the release of the new version with free or cheap gadgets. Let's hope that, as the production of the R1200RS must have stopped as well, by then the stock has been sold out and we're not troubled with lower prices if we want to trade in our bikes.

I have had a reply form BMW Uk which I copy below.

"Good Afternoon Mr Lewis

Thanks for your email to Hendrik about the release date of the new R1250 RS – I can understand your concern

The September launch date for the new model has been based on factory production and I recognise that the timing is not ideal in terms of seasonality for UK customers, however unfortunately we are not able to influence this time scale.

I do understand that this will have an impact on you in terms of the value of your current bike should you look to exchange it as part of the sale. I would like to assist with this and would ask that if you have placed an order or intend to place an order for the new model that you let me know your selected retailer, so that I can discuss this with them.

If there is anything further I can assist with in the meantime please do get in touch?

I’m sorry for those of you hoping for a 1250 model in Spring ‘19. For me it’s taken away any remote dilemma as to whether to upgrade. I will continue to love my 1200 model, in her lupin blue sportswear.

Not had the call yet, been away, why are y’all cancelling orders? Is it September delivery or September build time? Does it matter, I can see that we want to play in the summer, wind and rain can be cool riding also, never wrong weather only wrong clothes? Do we want to reorder next year, no matter how nice the biscuits the coffee is still out of a machine. GS/R riders can sort engine, electric and mechanical recalls, if any. Does it matter which bike I have in my garage, it’s still in the garage.

Due to the debacles of the 1250 release date
My 1200Rs will the last in a long line of BMW's
My thoughts at this time as something red with additional 10cc 😉

Like Ged I have now lost Intrest in the new r1250rs especially when offered 1k more px 😯
Test ride on the demo bike next weekend 😊 especially as the low seat takes it down to 795mm😁😁😁 (short arce)

I think you missed the points CJ

Devaluation of bike and thus more cost,
New bikes first two months in possible salt,
Mine goes out of warranty,
BMW wont want mine with 25k on it,
There will be so many dropped 1200's there worth will drop,
BMW have the advantage of having the interest off your deposit,
Having to renegotiate with Mrs which means more barter,
And there's more but I've lost interest and it depresses me i'm off to kick me cats.
