Wow...no idea that was happening. It wasn't that long ago that Road Racing World did an extensive article on the company and, at the time, there was nothing but optimism.

do keep up! Richard posted the early specualtion 5 days ago.

As for racing, Ducati took over the MotoE part of the business last year so it will continue I guess.

There was a lot of optimism when the Italian owners secured American investment a couple of years ago but it seems the parent company was not very well run and has gone tits up taking Energica with it.

Oops, another mistake. I had forgotten that I had posted that article when it was first published. They caught out my poor memory by re-sending it again. I really wish Revzilla wouldn't do that to me. After a while all of these articles start looking the same and I forget which ones I had already read. It was originally about electric motorcycles, but it is starting to become about the impending failure of the electric motorcycle market. At least that is what I seem to recall. Did I start this thread? I think I might have, but I am no longer sure. I hope I can make it to 2035 when U.S. and EU regulators tell us that no more new gas-powered vehicles can be sold. I want to see how far that can gets kicked down the road then.

In the US, the "regulation" was state gov't wouldn't buy new ICE after 2035. The EU regulation was for all new sales to be EV

I don't think bikes were included in the EU/UK directive. UK has already knocked it back from 2030 to 2035. I think the 2030 was Boris wanting to be different to the EU with another fanciful policy, but it was realigned with the EU by Sunak. I think the date will be kicked further down the road as we won't have adequate infrastructure. Even those with a drive at home are finding there are barriers to having a home charger fitted. Latest is a factor of our cheapskate housing developers: we have many semi-detached (duplex) and terraced houses. Owners are finding they cannot have a high capacity charger as their house has a shared supply with the other homes they are attached to so a car charger might overload that supply.

Yes, we're different. I had a separate service (meter) installed for my detached 22x22 garage to run my woodworking toys. The charger was installed on an existing circuit.

Here is the latest summary regarding what is going on with Energica's bankruptcy:

The Italian electric motorcycle brand Energica filed for insolvency on October 14. This means that one of the best-known pioneering brands has become another victim of the lack of interest in electric motorcycles. Energica's main American shareholder, the fund company Ideanomics Inc, holds 75% of the shares and has now pulled the plug. Energica had been building electric motorcycles since 2009 and founded the Energica Motor Company in Modena in 2014. It ran the FIM MotoE World Championship as part of the MotoGP with its vehicles for four years. High-performance series models such as the Ego sports bike and the EsseEsse 9 and Eva Ribelle naked bikes caused an international sensation, but the sales figures for the expensive e-bikes were always low and the financial situation was always critical. In 2021, the US fund company Ideanomics got on board and when the Experia touring bike appeared the following year, there was a glimmer of hope because sales had risen by 200 percent according to the manufacturer. However, the flash in the pan soon died out again and the desperate search for further investors was unsuccessful.

A court has opened bankruptcy proceedings against Energica. The future of service and spare parts supply for customers is still completely unclear.
