I have a sw motech tank ring installed for a couple years now. I tried experimenting with different tightnesses to the screws but hasn't worked. Checked on line for a new gas cap and its super expensive :( |

If I find it I will post it, but I had a bigger reassembling the gas cap one time. Turned out there was a servo that has to be in the right position so the cap will latch when pressed closed. Have it in the wrong position and it just won’t work.

I followed that when I first got the bike back home and it didn't resolve the issue. I was able to open the gas cap but it didn't actually fix the cause why the keyless operation was not working. Several hours later i discovered the white male plug coming from the gas cap appeared crimped. I straightened out the wires and bingo Can fill the tank now :p |

So really it was actually not a keyless tankcap problem. Just a wiring issue caused by slightly incompetent electrician/mechanic. Which can actually happen to anyone that does maintain motorbikes. One of those silly things to mess up a ride. |

The location of the guilty connection is so out of the way that I doubt the theory of an "incompetent electrician/mechanic" I for one never worked anywhere near that plug and no panels were ever damaged or replaced on the bike. I can only come to the conclusion that it is a "BMW thing" during assembly. I only know that if I brought the bike to a dealer to fix the cap they would have not bothered with the cheaper solution and replaced the whole assembly at a great cost to me. I'm not 100% certain my fix will last but at least I know where to look next time... |

I've posted photos a few times. I'm happy and carefree with my modification of the cap so it latches but does not lock. Did this on my 2015 and 2023 bikes - about 30 seconds with a Dremel cutting disk. Before and after photos can be found on this forum with a search. “A good man always knows his limitations.” |
