The most awkward - lengthy - job I’ve encountered.
Following a non-start event last October while 200 miles from home I decided to, hopefully, eliminate a repeat performance by replacing the possible culprits.
Almost 11 years old. At 56K miles.
(I cannot justify an R1300RS Auto)
Bike is still in winter hibernation.
The starter motor screws are hard to see and harder to remove and replace. 30 Torx btw. No torque wrench required.
My road side rescue man told me the battery is ok. Original 2015 battery had never been removed ever. Has lived on an Optimate charger whenever not in use.
But, as a precaution I decided to fit a higher power Motobatt battery. Highly recommended on forums. Sorry fora.
Fired up immediately. Made a different whining sound.
Fingers crossed for a ferry trip to Spain in April.
