I’d say “yes.” Lack of affordable “fun” models for entry level riders, young folk not being attracted to cars or bikes like the older generation, dumb ideas for new bikes nobody asked for, etc. Motorcycle groups have been dying off for about the same reasons. Lack of young blood and high cost of entry to the hobby.

we are seeing something similar in the UK but it does not to seem to be the same everywhere in Europe, especially in the south. Although, they are buying a lot of Chinese & Indian bikes with heritage branding such as Benelli, Royal Enfield and FB Mondial, and the adventure bikes from CF Moto, Voge, Kove etc.

Despite the sense of economic well-being given off by stock markets, underneath it all the average person is finding the cost of living burdensome. "Buy now, pay later" is being used for things like groceries...not a good sign. And young people are not, as others have pointed out, interested in big-ticket motorcycles, despite all the technological "bling" being fitted into them. |

Unlike mortgage interest, you don't have to itemize to get the auto loan deduction. Just think.......$10,000 in annual interest expense. Some folks live in a different world.

I'm "debt-aphobic" and look at today's out-of-control debt spiral (federal and private) and think, "this can't go on"...but it can, and has, and the few financial giants who've expressed concern are viewed as out of touch old fogeys who missed the great crypto/AI boom and think savings are a necessary part of good financial management. |

It isn't just young people who are paying a financial price due to the cost of everything. And it isn't just home prices locking people out of ownership...it's insurance premiums, food-price inflation (which explains, partly, the obesity problem which derives from eating cheap, ultra-processed food instead of more expensive, healthy alternatives), medical cost inflation, utilities cost inflation and general services-cost inflation, etc. |

As just mentioned above by BEARR, wholesale prices during the month of July were the highest it has been since three years ago. The impact of tariffs are already starting to be felt by importers and retailers and it won't be long before price increases hit the consumer. You can expect the inflation rate to continue to go up in future months. It looks to me as if motorcycle importers are not going to be eating the tariffs as many U.S. car brands are doing right now - and loosing billions of dollars doing so. The maintenance of price points has been smoke and mirrors as we have seen considerable shrinkflation. Aldi will still sell you a pack of 6 English breakfast sausages for £2.50 but the pack is now 400g not 500g and the pork content has been reduced. They have the same protein content and remain gluten free so no rusk, but they add things like pea protein. Whilst the sausages contain no grain so are not affected by the Ukraine thing, the pigs eat shit loads of the stuff to fatten them up quickly.
