I really like my RS. But it has a certain "pedestrian" quality to it that is not at all an issue when you want to go far, in comfort, and hit the twisties with a bit of elan occasionally while you're doing it. What it can't do is rev up the part of your brain that responds to erotic stimuli. For this reason, despite the extra work a second bike entails, I've put a deposit down on a companion for my RS, so that practicality and impracticality can coexist in my garage...a 40th anniversary GSX-R750Z. Whether my dealer gets one is still to be determined, but I'm thinking he will. I doubt a "sales slump" for motorcycles will lower the price of this bike.

Call it a "late mid-life"...hmmm...not "crisis", but more like lust:

far too many boomers in N.America, Europe and Japan are sat on shit loads of cash or equity they won't be able to spend in 2 or 3 decades.

Wessie...you are buying experiences, which are priceless much of the time, instead of faddish junk. The latest fad over here is weighted vests which people wear while jogging or walking. At first I saw one or two out on the trail I walk, but now it seems to be a growing "thing", exponentially. For most buyers of these vests, the use of them will be time-limited and they'll wind up in the corner of a closet, unused.

That's what's so great about motorcycles...each time I start mine up to begin a ride a thrill goes through me, knowing another adventure awaits. I experienced the same thing as a pilot; once the wheels began rolling down the runway, the world became a grand adventure...priceless.

We went to the local mall today (I hadn't been in a decade...). If the mall is any indication of economic health, I'd have to say the economy is in deep sh*t. And on the way, along the freeway, there were RV dealers...RV's stacked deep and no buyers.

If this is any indication, it's easy to see why motorcycle sales are in the doldrums. And with total debt levels in the world at something over $100 trillion, any decline in liquidity is going to wreak havoc.

"Get your house in order", someone once said to me. Good advice.

Just bought a three year old Suzuki SV650 as a second bike to a 2017 RS. Ooh its like being back in puberty days with a Mobylette or Honda 50 on a field or wherever. Back to having a fun ride without the need to be travelling at 1.5 times the speed limits. Just putting the smile back on my face, after a crappy year. Cost about half what a new one would be. Lovely engine. Couldn't see myself on a parrelel twin that every firm is selling. But yes, its great to be young again at 70.
