My youngest granddaughter is really upset that the cost of boba drinks likely to rise because most of the ingredients in the drinks are sourced from China or other Asian countries. That goes to show you what is really important to the younger generation in the U.S.

From what I can gather, Trump is using wartime powers to implement these tariffs, wartime powers that were granted to US Presidents during the cold war. Normally it would be up to the legislative branch to enact such measures. It is possible that the US congress could eventually step up and declare them unconstitutional on the basis that the US is not at war. |

It really is clown car economic policy. Some of Trumps oligarch mates are pound to be making a tidy sum of this. As mentioned we had similar problems with a PM who went off piste, but her party had the decency to kick her out. Unsurprisingly she only makes the news here when papers report her latest bonkers uttering for laughs. Where’s the republican push back? |

They came and want to renegotiate trade terms. So, why not pause the tariff hikes while they are willing to negotiate. Keep in mind that very, very few politicians have any actual business experience. They are expecting Trump to act like any other politician...which is why they keep getting it wrong. For all the nonsense people spout about Sun Tzu, I'm amazed at how few political figures know how to implement his teachings. You'd think it would be required reading for anyone going into politics.

The Dow Jones Index closed up 3K points today. If someone knew what he was going to do shortly before Trump made his announcement, like his family members or golfing friends, they could really make a killing in the market.
