Just read in Road Racing World that for all 2025 BMW motorcycles, the break-in service is included. FYI.

Our dealer gave us free 600 mile services on our 2022s.
It's a 2 hour 45 minute ride for us and I was happy to get the service free :)

depends on the route

my Moto Guzzi dealer is 90 minutes away but through the rolling hills of Shropshire and N.Wales.

They need the bike cold for the valve check so they ask you to ride it there, pick up a loan bike and ride home. Return the following day to collect. As I am retired, a 6 hour ride spread across two days is fine with me.

It's nice, but with the new LC Boxers, I think the benefit is an engine oil and rear drive lube change.

probably 200 quid at UK dealer prices. They charge about 80 quid for the oil alone.

Yeah, but the 600 mile service is something anyone with minimal wrenching skills can do at home. Hard to justify the trip for as little as they do.

Someone I know vaguely posted yesterday on Facebook how he'd just had his first main service on a GS done at an independent, who had apparently uncovered shortcuts made by the dealer at the 600 mile service. Am now quite intrigued to know what, and how he knew! Didn't they bother changing the oil or something?

pretty sure I know the independent concerned if he is in your neck of the woods

he makes many posts on the UKGSer forum slagging off dealers. He has worked for a number of dealers including your local one until recently. Never seems to stay long.

I would take what he says with a pinch of salt. Probably some truth in it but seems overegged to me as the reason he leaves is never his fault. I suspect he is of the personality type that works best in a single person workshop and does not fit well into a corporate world. Something I can identify with.
