Talking of tech this is what happened yesterday. I wanted to run in new Michelin Road six tyres so rode out the Waterfront Cafe in Benson. closed my top box but foolishly left the keys in the lock as I flew down the road towards Henley.
Five minutes later my TFT screen tells my keys are out of range and that when I next try to start the keyless ignition it will not.
So into my bluetooth helmet mike, which is linked by wifi into the Chigee I say " Hey Siri find my keys" Siri tells me my keys are 3k down the A4074 with precise location because I've attached an airtag to the keyring. I retrace my steps and sure enough there are the keys intact on the verge.
Should I have not found them it would have cost c. £1k to replace the key and all the security locks.

Er very sensibly the dumb key remains at home in case of theft and tracker enabled retrieval.

Yep - same way for me - active keyfob in jacket pocket, used only to enable stop/start, steering lock release or alarm. grey key carried elsewhere for emergency use(it's no use if you keep this at home!)
Spare/duplicate cut from a blank of no use to anyone else if stolen/lost = used for seat/satnav so loss will not stop the keyless use but makes sure I don't break that 'flip-out' key.
Also still have same 'non-keyed to bike' set for the panniers/topbox from when the locks to all my bikes over the last twenty years have has this same keyset. Needed when swopping from R1200st and R1200r. Also made changing from 2015 RS to the 2017 R1200RS as these originals and the cut blanks are all the same.

Same approach as Wessie and Dave , I keep my key fob zipped in trouser pocket and use a spare dumb key warn on a lanyard to open luggage and release satnav etc. The emergency grey key is zipped in a jacket pocket and never used ( thankfully).
