I didn’t build it, but it is exactly what I thought I would have liked to build.
But I knew it was never going to happen.
It popped up early in 2017, but sat unsold for a while, so I acquired it at a reasonable price.
1982 R80RT would you believe. Matching numbers too.
It’s very well built engineering-wise with 1000 barrels, 5 speed box and twin discs and with a shed load of hi-tech electrical bits and pieces, ranging from keyless ignition, LED lamps to GPS speedo with multiple functions.
Has the sweetest gearbox I’ve ever met.
It’s a bit of a bugger to start from cold with 2 good old fashioned chokes on the carbs, but once warm it’s fine.
It’s been lying unloved over the winter and is partially dismantled right now, because the clutch release mechanism locked up and gave me an interesting few miles home stuck in Drive. Gonna pull it apart to see exactly what gone wrong.
