I am not a super high mile rider as yet. But I am a self proclaimed COB. As such I seek to get the most from my apparatus. |

I use Nikwash/ Nikwax on our Tourshell suits. All the armour taken out and then into the washing machine following the suits washing instructions. The correct amount of wash is added to the soap drawer plus a bit extra. After the wash cycle is finished Nikwax is poured in soap drawer and wash cycle is started again. When finished the suits are left to dry then armour is refitted. They do a spray as well to add extra proofing but I've found washing and waxing has been enough. As my suit gets dirty the material get porous so it's washed and waxed every year. If you decide to use Nikwash make sure all the soap and conditioner is cleaned out of the drawer or the treatment won't work. I also run the machine on a boil wash empty first to make sure there's no powder residue inside the machine. I'm just a yob who just happens to ride a BMW |

No Wayne I don't,I figure the rinse cycle will rid the machine of any excess treatment but if not the first wash will be waterproof..... Bonus!

For cleaning they have Tech Wash For restoring waterproofing they have Softshell Proof For Gor-Tex gear they have TX.Direct Wash-In

Just as Darrell somehow repels the rain clouds, the last couple of seasons, I feel like I have been storm-chased by every tropical depression to dump rain on the southeast the last 2 years. Although I love my Rallye Suit for year-round use and occasional mist, when serious, I pull out a cheap Ducati rain suit. I have tried to wash and reproof, but I just don't seem to have the knack. I have used the products mentioned, and my jacket is still grubby. I wear a (mainly silver coloured) Held and I can't get it to look new again. Even though I have not rolled in the mud, or even camped out in it (these days, a motel is the bare minimum) it looks like it has had a wild life.
I would like to apologize to anyone I have NOT offended. Please be patient. I will get to you shortly.

Zitat von Aussie Import im Beitrag #14 I can't answer professionally cleaned question, but my previous riding suit had light tan colour panels on the legs, arms and chest and it got grubby and stained looking very quickly - don't go there Bravo ;-) I know a lot of the staining came from riding on wet winter roads in the UK, where the mix of tyre black, oil, water and salt makes a nasty black paste that the RS seems suck up and deposit on the rider like no other bike I've owned, the rest was from brushing against things like fuel pump hoses that get dragged over diesel covered forecourts. Eventually it started to leak, apparently because of the particles of dirty trapped on the outer material. I washed it using the Nikwax products which restored the waterproofing but the wash didn't do anything to the appearance, the stains remained and it still looked grubby. I realised if you want a motorcycle suit to look clean after a wash don't buy light colours, buy black. I do appreciate that in climates that are hotter than the UK that lighter colour suits can be beneficial. But to be honest the remaining grubby appearance didn't really bother me, it's a functional bit of clothing not a fashion statement, YMMV. The next suit I bought was (is) black with dark grey panels, the stains do not show up as much but that's not why I choose black, black was the only colour available for the suit I wanted. JasonQ |
