Got recharged on Saturday with the smell of rubber and oil (and doughnuts and coffee), as I got on the bike for the first time since June and some maintenance surgery (or, 60-plus years of good stories that make the knees hurt) as I rode the bike for a taste of the Saturday morning "barber shop" environment of Gateway BMW.

The year hasn't been bad, as I did the RR thing with Keith Code's group at Vegas in April, ran into a bunch of RS riders in Eureka Springs for a few days in May, and punched out a few thousand miles primarily in the southeast, on the way to and from meetings. I include a picture of Johnny Haynes - late of the English superbike scene - helping me to be a good man. (See quote from Dirty Harry below.)

I carried a hat with me on the last trip, and made sure it did some quality miles (including a lot of time in the wrong lane going round white-knuckled Harley wannabes on the 'tail') before delivering it to Terry in the Chicago area.

In the mood, I thought I would waste a little time with greetings to old and new comrades.... As I confessed to Darrell - I sure did get a lot done while not doing the forum thing. On the other hand, I missed some of the inspiration and wisdom of the real riders, too numerous to name.
