I increased the tire pressures on my 700LB FJR after hearing from my tire guy that I could lighten up the overall "feel" of the bike with a couple of extra LBS in the tires. It actually makes a difference. I don't know what pressures you can go up to without losing significant traction, but you might ask some others if they have tried higher pressures.

I demoed a R1200R the other day, after riding the Blue Whale to the dealer. The R felt very nimble and willing to dip in to corners comparatively.

Have you considered a road trip to San Francisco on your bike? You could sell it to me when you get here, and I'll take you to airport after we do a ride on my favorite West Marin roads.

I share your feelings about Ducati superbikes. I had a 4 year love affair with a 916, but my 60 year old neck broke up the relationship. It was also an unruly, incorrigable (SP?) brute with no manners, always found myself riding like an adolescent. Still one of my all time favorites.
