The guys we know who do a lot of track days don't use their expensive bikes on the track.

I see a lot of high-end hardware (MVs, Panigales, S1000RRs) at track days, especially those days put on by brand-specific clubs. These bikes probably never see the street.

Indeed. A friend is VP of a Ducati owners club. He is often at places like Mugello where owners take their bikes and get schmoozed by Ducati/Audi to spend more cash on toys.

We have transport companies that take truck loads of superbikes to Pau circuit in SW France so owners can fly in and ride their bikes in sunshine.

The majority of us face a cost of living crisis but there is a small percentage of people oblivious to such things.

No question...adding holeshot capability isn't a big deal. It's marketing. When I had my RR, I spent a lot of time on the RR forum, and every year when a new RR came out, with some added "bling", members would salivate over the new shiny thing and place orders. Then the new bike arrived and what did I read? Oil leak, brake caliper problem, cracking carbon fiber wheels, etc.

New and improved? Give it some time first. "Holeshot" might turn out to be..."holy sh*t!".
