In the spirited cornering that I on occasion find myself unable to resist, the first thing that touches down is the center stand. Anyone else find the center stand to be the first thing to touch? There appears to be no problem with the stand, no looseness, etc. (except for the lightly ground area that has now developed on the bottom of the leg).

Centerstand first in right turns. Definitely going to see about trimming the stop 👍

Exactly, right hand only, with suspension compressed. If I do it a few more times, maybe it will make its own clearance.

Do you think that the side of the road you ride on will have some effect on what touches down first? In Oz, we ride on the left. The "sharpest" turns around the 'burbs are left turns. In the USA it would be right turns.
The camber of the roads in Oz is from the centre falling to the left.
In the USA it would from the centre falling to the right.
I have "zinged" the centre stand on right turns a few times, but they were the more open ones taken with a little bit more vigour than normal. It is always a surprise to hear it.
I have not had anything touch down with serious effect, nothing which would "jack" the wheel off the road, for example. I guess I am just getting old.....

Are you in dynamic? I’ve had it grind when I forget to switch from road to dynamic.

Usually it's the pegs that touch first for me, but have once had the center stand touch briefly in a right-hander with a bump, (a better description would be a minor ridge followed by a hollow) mid corner which caused the loaded suspension to load more then to unload and then reload in quick succession, with the stand touching on the reload phase. In that turn the pegs didn't touch, I was certainly not lent over as far as I would have to get the peg down, so I think the stand was more than likely thrown down against its springs and that's why it touched.

My stand has never touched down.

On cambered RH bends on track and road, my “hero peg studs” and/or toe of my boot touched first.

The peg studs have been removed (small screws fitted to keep the threads clean).

My custom rear shock gives me +10mm lift so nothing has touched down recently.

Mind you, I’m a lightweight 80 kilos fully kitted so some of you fat(yer) bastids may be simply squashing your springs more than most

Its my boots or my pegs, but mostly my toes/boots since I replaced my pegs with some sporty rizoma pegs. I only hit my center stand if there is hard corner that also has a rapid transition from downhill to uphill at the apex. I think I bottom out a little AND the center stand drops a bit.

Super easy fix. Bump up the preload to two riders. Never rubbed the center stand once I've done this. If I forget, it scrapes.
