It wasn't really a parking place, but motorcycles fit there and there was concrete where your stand would sit down. This was odd since there are several other "motorcycle only" parking places scattered around the campus. Then, in a parking lot expansion, the area was gone. We all petitioned to have motorcycle spaces added but were told they needed to be in the permit application to the county when the permit was drawn, and they were not. No, too late to add them. Really?! Anyway, as the weather warmed, I noticed the side stand was leaving impressions in the blacktop. Fearing I'd come out of work to find the bike on its side I started carrying the cover for a 4" electric box with me and placing that under the side stand. It worked but it was a bit of a nuisance and I worried I'd forget it one morning. Then I saw this foot stand enlarger from Ilium works. Installation was super easy. I haven't used it yet, it being cold, snowy or both since I installed it. I expect it will work as well as the electric box cover as they are about the same area. The best part is I'll never forget to put it down under the stand.

The trouble with any of these devices is of course that they extend the effective length of the side stand, albeit slightly (see other threads ad nauseam about RS's tipping over as a result) so I'd be reluctant to fit something like that on a permanent basis.

I also carry a plastic puck in my topcase - I think mine came as a promo item when I did a UK emergency services-sponsored BikeSafe or Biker Down course a few years ago. Normally sees the light of day once a year when I join the hordes parking on grass when watching the bike racing at Oulton Park!

Had a foot enlarger on the GS and GT, can't use one on the RS as the stand is too tall as it is and will only invite a faster tip over than already exists.

Where I park most often that little extra length isn't a problem. If it does become one, I can remove this easily enough.

I’ve used a side stand “enlarger” for many years.

Can’t remember the brand. 2 minute job to fit.

Very reassuring on softer ground.

No worries about the stand being too high as my rear shock was rebuilt with an extra 10mm in length.

ps - Nurburgring. But I was in Ring Taxi passenger seat, not riding my bike
