As an owner of a 2017 spec bike running under Euro 4 spec fuelling I like many others I suspect feel the need let the big twin breathe.

Step 1 Akro decat headers fitted and cat flap removed leading to a quicker revving engine with a better pick up.

Step 2, SC end can added and this tipped the scales as it became clear the bike was now running lean with a fluffy tick over and erratic response at low throttle combined with a flat spot in the mid range so it was back to the standard end can. in this condition the bike ran acceptably well but alerted and I guess looking for the lean symptoms the following was noted while holding a steady 70 to 80 in the midrange of the engine performance the bike would feel as if lacking punch and would fade a little and require more throttle to maintain speed and as soon as an incline or headwind encountered then the feeling was easy to spot as loosing speed was the outcome.

Step 3, get the Euro 4 restrictions removed from the ecu and tune fuelling to match so off to Treetoptuning and what a result. The programme was developed and is being marketed as a service by post if required although full dyno set ups are offered if required. I was happy to supply ECU for the generic stage 1 map to be applied

I am in no way connected with Treetop but happen to know the guy who produced this map is on of the UK top Ducati tuners and he knows how to get big twins to run as intended before restrictions added.
Very happy with the way the bike now performs and more than happy to respond to any questions raised.

Had my 1200gs of 2017 tuned by Chris in Bristol, brilliant service, and I believe he in also part of that treetoptuning group, if it helps anyone, bike is not faster but certainly fuelling is way better I can feel it in the throttle, not as snatchy anymore, and even if I get a map upgrade, it will not be overwritten, as they have put something in the ECU that blocks that, it is not invisible, you can see it Chris showed me on his computer, nothing I asked was avoided question wise, and everything was transparent, took a good few hours but well worth the ride.

Good to hear you found Chris and are happy with his expertise, a visit to Lamb Chop on the tube is worthwhile as he has produced a very good video of his GSXR getting a remap by Chris. The ECU map will remain as modified by Chris as he alters the programme to prevent an overwrite of the particular file that has been modified during remapping so any dealer update will load as required with no impact on fuelling alterations made.
I have now covered many miles in all conditions and could not be more happy with the results it made a great bike better.
I implore anybody thinking of this type of modification to do their homework to help cut through the mountain of misinformation out there, Chris who is part of the Treetop group is truly a guy at the top of his game and as stated by r1200gsauk all modification work can be displayed on lap top as required other members of the group are also respected people in the trade and sharing information and support between each other. I waited for nearly 2 years until he was ready to offer a tune for the R1200 on his web page and I am very glad I did.

Thought I would just give a little update on the bike after a few tanks of petrol, and in all honesty, not much to say, bike feels the same as when it came out of tuning, still pulling nicely, no real gain or loss of mileage, torque is certainly better, you can just feel the bike pulling harder when overtaking, before it was ok, but just felt a little off, i`m very happy now, obviously given the different weather conditions and roads that I use, I still get the odd vibration in the pegs, but I think that is more cams related, so all in all pretty happy guy, thanks to the forum I saved my pennies and looks like I made the right decision.
